LAHC Annual Conference 2024 - Leading with the Head and the Heart

The LAHC Annual Conference 2024, held last month in Santiago, proved to be one of the most successful yet.

Leading with the Head and the Heart was the theme for 2024, with sessions focused on many different aspects of school leadership. Themes included:

  • Learning with leading in mind
  • Building a positive school culture through positive leadership
  • Empowering young people to tackle climate change
  • Guiding students on becoming internationally minded citizens
  • Leadership for educational transformation
  • The power of nature to create positive changes in young people and inspirational leadership for Generation Z
  • Leading positively in an intergenerational world
  • Becoming a carbon negative school
  • Leading Latin American schools
  • Creating a menopause-friendly school
  • Using coaching as part of a wider school improvement strategy

Presentations and related material from the sessions can be found here.

We introduced for the first time a structured speed dating networking session where delegates could discuss projects they would like to develop with other member schools. Students from local LAHC schools had a significant involvement and showed delegates projects they had been working on. Finally, last but not least, delegates were treated to a fantastic Concert by the LAHC Student Band and Choir, an ensemble of 160 students from member schools.

Our heart felt thanks to all the speakers, delegates, students and everyone else involved in making 2024 such a memorable, fun and inspirational conference. In particular, thank you to The Grange School for hosting part of the conference and to Craighouse School for its kind donations and to both schools for sharing the organisation of the music programme.

We hope this gives you new, or reinforces and crystalises, ideas and strategies when considering leadership in your school. With that in mind, we look forward to renewed discussions, connections and opportunities for sharing expertise for school improvement in São Paulo in 2025!
