Joshua Smith has been a KS2 class teacher for five years, of which three were spent in Year 5/6 in the south west of England. He then moved to teach abroad at the Edron Academy with the aim of developing his teaching of children with English as an additional language. Currently, he is a Year 5 class teacher and the EAL Leader for Primary and Kinder. In this role, his responsibilities include coordinating the school\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s newly formed EAL department, as well as implementing whole school initiatives and providing training opportunities for class teachers to improve the learning experiences of the children at the Edron. He has a great interest in how new languages are acquired inside and outside of the classroom, how we can enable this as a teacher and the
factors that can impede this. He also enjoys seeing how different learning environments seek to overcome these factors creatively and empathetically.
